6 fl oz water (distilled or use lavender, chamomile, or rosewater)
3 fl. oz oil (Sweet almond, grapeseed, or use herb-infused oils, such as lavender, comfrey, calendula, or chamomile.
1 oz. beeswax
1/2 teaspoon borax
30 drops maximum essential oil
Heat the oil and beeswax just until melted. In another pan, heat the water and borax until the borax is dissolved.
Slowly, mix water/borax mixture into oils, stirring constantly, using a whisk. Stir until the mixture is luke warm and no longer hot (an ice bath helps speed this up).
Any EO can be added after the lotion has cooled. Some nice skin eo's are sandalwood, patchouli, lavender, rose, neroli, and chamomile. The consistency should be smooth, the thickness of syrup. Use a small amount to avoid a greasy feeling.
